PUWI to Train and Empower 100 Vulnerable Women in FCT.

Precisely on Thursday, August 6th, and Friday, August 7th, 2020, PUWI in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, successfully organized a webinar on domestic violence.

In attendance were the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, OFR; Dr. (Mrs.) Omobolanle Olonisakin, President of Defense and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) and wife of Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff; Prof. Taofiq Adesina Azeez of Department of English, University of Abuja, and Imam, University of Abuja Muslim community and Da’wah Front of Nigeria; the Executive Secretary of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), ably represented by Mr. Harry Obe Ogwuche, Director, Women, Children and Vulnerable Groups department of NHRC; and Mrs. Titilope Ejimagwa, 1st/only black 5-Star Director of Longrich (a multi-level network marketing company) among other dignitaries from within and outside the country.

Highlight of the conference was the consensus by all participants that a common reason for frequent and incessant spousal abuse is frustration, occasioned by inadequate financial resources from men to care for and satisfy the needs of their wives and family members. And when pushed, many men become violent, venting their anger on their wives.

Consequently, PUWI is determined to train and empower at least 100 vulnerable women within the Federal Capital Territory, as a means of curbing the menace of spousal abuse. It is hoped that these would-be women beneficiaries will ultimately be in a position to support their husbands and families financially.

We invite you to join us today in this race of touching lives, and leave footprints in the sands of time. We look forward to receiving your donations.
